MISSION 2007 – JULY, AUGUST
„CHANGING LIFES OF CHILDREN”
ORPHANAGE IN GIETARAMA
I
am Lidia Czop and this is Izabela Godyń from Poland.
Both of us are teachers and are involved in teaching children between
three and twelve of age for years. Since the beginning our desire is to
see children growing up in God’s atmosphere of love and His purpose for
them!
This
summer (July and August 2007) we have an opportunity to share this
love with orphans in the small village Gietarama (45 minutes from
Kigali, the capital of RWANDA). These children lost their parents
either in a war or as the result of the AIDS epidemic. In order to give
60 children (30 girls and 30 boys) shelter, food and basic teaching,
there was built a new orphanage in this village. In the long run 10
widows will take care of the children.
Our
purpose is to go there and help them, to love the children, cook for them,
and do things that the mother should do, for the period of two months.
Additionally, we are planning to teach them English and basic personal
hygiene. The place where the children stay is called “Victory Family
Home of Champions” and is led by Victory Church in Rwanda.
This
is our first mission trip to Africa, our Polish Victory Church
stands in faith with us together with our pastor Magda Broda, believing
that this mission trip is right and according to God’s will. We all
believe that it will make a difference, it will change us but most of all
it will help the children!
However,
to make this dream come through we need God's help and people, who could
help us in covering some of the expenses. Although we are able to cover
some costs of this project, we are not able to cover it all. Therefore, we
turn to you and ask for considering the possibility of financial support.
Every amount will make a difference and will help us to come closer to
reaching the aim.
The costs are as follows:
The ticket to Rwanda 4800 zł
1714 USD
Visa 250 zł
89 USD
Vaccination 350 zł
125 USD
Cost of life in Rwanda 2000 zł
714 USD
Total 7400 zl
2642 USD per person, both of them 5284 USD
We
believe it is a very godly project to participate in, we can spend our
finances on so many things, but Word of God teaches us: “...what God
the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take
care of orphans and widows in their suffering...” Jacob 1,27
If
you have desire from the Lord to support us in this project, please
transfer the finances into account of our church in Poland:

OUR TRIP TO HERRNHUT , 30 th SEPTEMBER 2006
Herrnhut
, Germany, is a small town of 1400 residents. This seemingly ordinary town
has an incredible history of God’s great revival in 18th century.
The
key person of that period is count Nikolaus von Zinzendorf – a
German theologian and the author of so called “theology of heart”. In 1722
he allowed the Bohemian Brothers (also called the Unity of the Brethren -
religious refugees from Bohemia and Moravian area) to settle in his land
in Germany. They built a settlement (that later became a town) and created
a Christian community. Everyone that wanted to join them had to declare
that his life is dedicated to God and His Word.
Unfortunately
the residents of Herrnhut (eng. The Lord’s Guard) started to argue with
each other very soon. Count Zinzendorf visited every family with the
message of forgiveness and unity. On 12th May 1727 he taught them for over
three hours on blessing of unity among God’s children. The Herrnhut
residents repented and on 13th August 1727 the Holy Spirit visited them in
a powerful way.
And
the results of this divine visitation were powerful as well!
Herrnhut
Christians started a prayer chain (groups of two or three people prayed
together for an hour or two, when they stopped praying another group would
begin and so on). The prayer chain was never stopped for over 100 years!
They
also received a call from God to go on mission trips to the areas and
countries where people had never heard of Christ. They were the precursors
of Protestant missionaries! Some of these first missionaries even decided
to become slaves in order to reach non-Christian slaves in West India. In
the next fifteen years many missionaries left Herrnhut to go to places
like the Virgin Islands, Greenland, Turkey, Africa, and both Americas.
They faced many challenges – some of them lost their lives, but there were
also the ones that reached their destination!
At
the time of Nikolaus von Zinzendorf s death in 1760, they had sent 226
missionaries all over the world and baptized more than 300 people! It was
only 38 years from the moment when the first family settled in Herrnhut!
Last
Saturday we had a chance to visit Herrnhut, to meet Christians of the
German Charismatic church, to pray with them and share the vision of
spiritual revival for the area called the Euro region – Germany, Czech
Republic and Poland.
The
trip to Herrnhut helped us to expand the place in our hearts and minds for
what is possible in God! He truly searches the face of the Earth to find
people that live for Him, to strengthen and use them for His purpose –
just as he did in Herrnhut almost 300 years ago!
